full-circle
Hey Gang,
I guess it’s time I start writing again. I’ve really enjoyed the last year of being back home and being a civilian again, but I suddenly find myself wearing the uniform full-time again. As you Red Bull fans know, 1st BCT is ramping up for another trip next year, and I’ve been asked to join the ride. Well actually, I was asked to take command of B Co, which I find humbling and exciting at the same time.
Its kind of a full-circle experience, not just because I’m back in the saddle with the Guard so soon again, but this was the first company I was assigned to upon graduation from my Officer’s Basic Course. That was before transformation, but many of the key players are still part of the crew, and its still based out of Moorhead. Which, ironically enough, is where I find myself this week!
Since going back on active duty, it seems I’ve been traveling quite a bit, and I’ve got a few more trips in the immediate future, including a jaunt to Camp Mabry outside Austin, TX among others.
I should be in the USA for some time, since the actual wheels-up date isn’t until sometime late next year. But I’ve got plenty to do prior to then, so I expect the next year to fly by.
As we continue our preparations, I may be changing this site, but I haven’t quite decided what I want to do yet. So for now, I’ll start posting when there’s interesting stuff to report, such as this snapshot from our trip to Little Rock. That was a pretty good conference, and I even bumped into some of my replacements from KFOR. Makes it feel like a very small world!
Anyway, I hope this finds you well!
